E-Safety - Wed 10 Feb 2016

On Wednesday 10th February, during our 'Be Happy, Be Safe' week, we held an e-safety workshop for parents to coincide with Safer Internet Day.

In school we use a variety of resources to teach children about keeping safe online.

Lee and Kim's Adventures

Lee and Kim meet SID who helps them to learn how to keep safe online. We are encouraging the children to remember SID's 4 top tips.

Top tip 1: People you don't know are strangers. They're not always who they say they are.
Top tip 2: Be nice to people on the computer like you would on the playground.
Top tip 3: Keep your personal information private.
Top tip 4: If you ever get that 'uh oh' feeling, you should tell a grown-up you trust.

Digiduck's Big Decision

Digiduck helps children explore the idea of being a good online friend. Digiduck needs help to make a difficult decision about sharing photos online. Digiduck can be used to discuss issues such as online friendship, taking and sharing photos safely, online gaming and responsibility online.

Smartie the Penguin

Join in with Daddy penguin's song and follow the adventures of Smartie and Daddy Penguin as Smartie learns how to be safe on the internet.

There is lots of advice about helping your child keep safe online on the UK Safer Internet Centre website. You will find information about safety tools and parental controls as well as having ongoing conversations with your child about keeping safe online.

Below are some useful checklists for adults for using social media and more information on safe internet use.
